Marketing has led us to believe that we need a different cleaning product, full of toxic chemicals, for each cleaning application. Cleaning the counters? Use this product. Cleaning the shower? Use this other product. Our cleaning cabinets are packed full of plastic packaged, toxic products. Do we really need so many? I'm just sure that my Great Grandmother didn't have about 20 items for all of her cleaning needs. In fact, I know what she used. Vinegar, baking soda, and water. That's it. She cleaned the majority of her house with these simple ingredients and it was always, ALWAYS squeaky clean.
To make cleaning zero waste, you can either purchase your vinegar in bulk, buy the vinegar in glass jars to be recycled/upcycled later, or you can make your own. For the baking soda, buy it in bulk or purchase it in paper packaging to be composted.
